Next Milestone! UC Browser Surpasses 500 Million Global Users

San Francisco, March 20, 2014 - UC Browser, the flagship product of leading mobile software and services provider UCWeb, has passed the 500 million users* milestone, further strengthening its position as the world's largest third party mobile browser by user base. Out of UC Browser’s 500 million users, 300 million use Android. With market leadership in China and India, the world’s largest and second largest countries by population, as well as having a strong momentum in terms of user adoption in several other key markets, UC Browser is steadily moving towards fulfilling its mission to provide a better mobile internet experience to billions of users around the world. To celebrate this landmark achievement and mark the start of its next journey, the company is kicking off a brand campaign that includes the launch of the new UC Browser brand mascot and product tagline.

New Achievement: 500 Million Users
According to Chinese research firm iResearch, UC Browser dominated China’s mobile browser market in 2013 with over 65% of the market share (based on monthly active users for both Android and iOS). UC Browser is also popular on the other side of the Himalayas. StatCounter’s data shows that UC Browser leads the overall mobile browser category in India with 32% market share. China currently has over 618 million internet users with 80 percent on mobile, and the number of mobile internet users in India is expected to grow to 185 million by June 2014.

Success in China and India has given UCWeb the experience and momentum to further expand globally. Within the past year, UC Browser has seen significant growth in several of the fastest growing countries in terms of internet usage - Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the United States. As of today, UC Browser has over 10% share of the mobile browser market in 10 countries around the world.
New Image, New Mission
To celebrate its latest milestone, UC Browser has launched a new brand mascot redesigned to better embody the faster and smarter web experience UC Browser delivers to its users.

In addition, UC Browser’s new mission is to provide users with more than just a browsing tool, but also a platform of rich content and services specially developed for users in different regions, as reflected in its product tagline - “A Fast All-in-One Web Experience”. One example of this approach is UC Browser’s newly launched train enquiry service in India that gives users an easy, one-stop solution for checking train status and ticketing information.

New Vision: Larger Ecosystem
UC Browser also recognizes the importance of working together with partners to develop a shared mobile ecosystem. Now with 500 million global users, UC Browser is working with 5,000 partners - including online service providers, app and game developers, and e-commerce merchants - to help maximize their brand exposure and distribution channels.
Case in point: To support Cricbuzz.com, a must-visit destination for cricket fans, UC Browser released a Cricbuzz add-on on the UC Browser Add-on Platform. This enabled Cricbuzz to tap a new venue to stay connected with its audience while at the same time expanding its reach to UC Browser’s 500-million user base.

Moreover, looking to expand its territory beyond smartphones and tablets, UCWeb is also planning to bring UC Browser to more screens. In early March, UC Browser for TV (Chinese version) was launched with features including easy access to online videos, streamlined TV-based online shopping, and plugins that turn your smartphone into a TV remote. It also makes use of cloud technology to enable users to sync settings and bookmarks across different devices.
