Zomato had introduced support for online orders last month, and now the
company has launched a new standalone app called Zomato Order.
Yes, the company doesn’t plan to accommodate the service in its existing
app, and instead has built an all-new app just for placing orders. It is the
first separate product by the company.
However, the company claims that both apps are intertwined in functionality.
Having said that, we wonder what was the need for a new app as users would
prefer a single app that does it all.
Well, Zomato has its reasons penned down in a blogpost. There are three main
reasons for doing so. First, it will ensure a clutter-free app as focusing on a
single app will help improve the user experience, says the company. Second,
tracking orders is simple in the new app, while the Zomato app expects users to
follow a few taps to get there. Lastly, the separate Order app will also mean
it doesn’t have to be updated every time a Zomato restaurant finder makes some
changes.
So, this mean you will now have to look up for a restaurant in one app and
then place an order using the ‘Zomate Order’. Zomato claims that both apps are
interlinked and this process has been made simpler.
“So if you’ve found a place you want to order from on the restaurant finder
app, a single tap will take you to that restaurant on the Order app, and you
can proceed to add items to your cart,” Zomate explains in the blog. The
company also hints at more apps coming soon.
The Zomato Order is now available for download on Apple App store
and Google Play store.
