Google Trends: Which smartphone did India search for the most in 2015?

This year, we saw smartphone launches literally, every week! Companies such as Apple, Samsung, Micromax, Motorola, Lenovo and others offered an endless list of devices in
India. Most of them, were affordable smartphones this year. We take a look which smartphones India was searching for via Google in 2015.
YU-Yureka
It wasn’t the iPhone. Nor was it Samsung or Xiaomi. The most searched smartphone in India in the year 2015 was the YU Yureka. Offering a 5.5-inch display, this device packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with Adreno 405 GPU paired with 2GB of RAM. Running Cyanogen 12 OS based on the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the smartphone packs in a 2,500 mAh battery. With high-end specifications, the device is priced at a mere Rs 8,999, making it one of the hottest selling and searched devices this year.
Apple-iPhone-6S
Like it or hate it, everyone admires Apple’s signature iPhone. Just 3 months into its launch, the iPhone 6s makes it second the most searched smartphone of the year. Not only does it look great, it is said to have incorporated a new processor, 3D Touch feature along with a quicker Touch ID sensor. The cheapest variant for the device starts at Rs 45,999. Lenovo-K3-Note
Being touted as a ‘KillerNote’, the Lenovo K3 Note was the third most searched smartphone this year. Even though a limited lot got their hands on the phone due to its competitive flash sales, the smartphone was a big hit in the country. Lenovo offered a stylish look, beautiful display, light weight along with a strong performance, all at Rs 9,999.
Lenovo-A7000
Another smartphone, which made heads turn this year was the Lenovo A7000. This was truly a budget phone and it struck a cord with all fans. It also offered a large screen display with a powerful processor with a good camera and a wide range of connectivity options. All this at Rs 8,499.
Moto-G
Moto G lands in at number 5 on the most searched smartphone on Google this year. The third iteration to the Moto G, offers the best overall user experience on an Android phone available in the market today. Micromax-Canvas-Silver-5
Another Micromax phone which was searched intensely this year was the Canvas Sliver 5. Along with a stylish design, the phone is super slim. With a screen size at 4.7-inch, the smartphone uses a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. While it launched at Rs 17,999, you can now get the phone for under Rs 13,000.
Samsung-Galaxy-J7
Samsung’s only phone to make it to the list in the Galaxy J7. Not only does the affordable device pack in a good display but it is said to have brilliant battery life along with a good touch experience. Apart from this, the camera for the Galaxy J7 is said to be superb as it offers great low light images. All in all, a good package at Rs 14,299.
Moto-X-Play
Another Motorola smartphone which made headlines this year was the Moto X Play. The great overall user experience, good camera, good battery life and a wonderful display; clearly makes this phone one to consider if you have a Rs 20,000 budget. The Moto X Play is priced at Rs 18,499 for the 16GB variant and Rs 19,999 for the 32GB variant, which is very sensible pricing for the performance you are getting. Micromax-Canvas-Spark
Micromax introduced the Canvas Spark in April while the Canvas Spark 2 was introduced in September. The main highlight for these devices is that they are priced under Rs 5,000! While the first iteration offers a 4.7-inch display, 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor, 8MP and more at Rs 4,999, the second gen one offers even better specs at Rs 3,999. With a slim body finish and decent specs, this one might be the most affordable smartphone out there.
Lenovo-A6000
At number 10 of the most searched smartphone list of 2015 is the Lenovo A6000. At 6,999, this smartphoneis the cheapest 4G phone you can buy. As a stand-alone entry level phone, the A6000 ticks the right boxes. The 5-inch HD display will be liked by many over the 4.5-inch qHD display on the Moto E, for instance. It makes for a good first smartphone purchase. It is priced at Rs 6,499.
