Gmail to let you make your custom email address at a $2 per month fee

Looks like Gmail is about to unveil a custom email address feature for standard Gmail users. According a report in GSMArena, this new feature lets regular users make their own email account. Note that this will be different from the work Gmail account which has a format such as you@yourcompanyname.com.

With this new feature, you can switch from you@gmail.com to you@youraddress.com email address. For a fee of $2/month, you get just the custom email ID without any additional storage space.
According to GSMArena, the new plan has been added in addition to the ‘Gmail for Work’ and ‘Gmail for Work unlimited’ plans. Clicking on the Get Started button, opens another pop-up menu which asks you to fill in details of your existing domain. It also went on to say that the feature will be rolled out in the future. As of now, the three options screen has disappeared.
Google has not mentioned a definite date for the rollout of this feature, but it seems like Google is gauging user interest in the feature by showing it to only selected users.
