Apple increases iPhone prices in India; iPhone 6 to start from Rs 56,000

Tech giant Apple has reportedly decided to increase the maximum retail price of the entire iPhone range in India. This move is a result of the recently announced Budget which has increased prices of imported mobiles and tablets in India. The news of the recent price hike was first spotted on Fonearena which also shared the prices for all the popular phones. Also, a report by Times Of India has independently verified the hike through Apple’s retail channel partners who confirmed it.
All iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models will become costlier by Rs 2,500. The price tag for the iPhone 6 16GB earlier was Rs 53,500 which is now Rs 56,000. The iPhone 6 64GB and iPhone 6 128GB will now cost Rs 65,000 and Rs 74,000 respectively.

Likewise, the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus will now cost Rs 65,000, with the 64GB and 128GB variants costing Rs 74,000 and Rs 83,000 respectively. The iPhone 6 Plus models will now cost Rs 65,000 for 16GB, Rs 74,000 for 64GB and Rs 83,000 for 128GB.
The older iPhone models have received a price cut though. The iPhone 5S 16GB is now priced at Rs 47,000 and the iPhone 5S 32GB is priced at Rs 51,500. The report by Fonearena also added that some third-party retailers sell the smartphones at a cheaper rate.
Earlier this month, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus models had received a price cut online. Third-party sellers on major e-commerce sites like Flipkart and Amazon were also offering a discount ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 for the new models.
