Truecaller updated for Android; brings in new ‘Auto Search’ feature

TrueCaller has updated its app (version 5.31) for Android users and has introduced a new feature called ‘Auto Search’. With this feature, users can identify any number present on social media, e-mail, text messages, and countless other places without opening the app. This indicates that users will no longer find the need to go into the app for searching an unknown number.

Truecaller announced the update on its blog and explained that a user will need to copy a number from any app or browser and a pop up message will appear on the screen with the contact’s information. The blog added that, “it can be tedious to copy the number to identify it or even save it to your contacts. We want to get rid of that extra step of opening an app. So, we made searching, calling, texting, and saving the info absolutely automatic and carefree.”
Apart from the Auto Search feature, Truecaller has also added in some other new features such as the addition of Nepalese language support, along with bug fixes and general speed improvements. There is no news as to if and when this feature will roll out for iOS users.
Facebook is reportedly testing a Truecaller rival dubbed ‘Phone’. According to a report by AndroidPolice, Facebook has accidentally sent out a new update asking users to try out the new ‘Phone’ app. It asked users to tap on install or update, but on doing so the social network pops up an error that reads, “no page found”.
