Olympus launches OM-D E-M5 Mark II mirrorless ILC for Rs 74,990



Olympus launched its latest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the OM-D E-M5 Mark II at an event in Mumbai for Rs 74,990. The E-M5 Mark II is the second generation of the E-M5 series which was introduced in 2012.
The E-M5 Mark II uses the same 16MP LiveMOS sensor and the TruePic VII image processor that was last seen on the OM-D E-M5. Even the design bears some similarity to the predecessor. The Mark II is also dustrproof, splashproof like the E-M5. But Olympus has improved some aspects with the Mark II.

For starters, the OM-D E-M5 Mark II comes with a sensor-shift high res shot feature, which lets you shoot a series of photos where the sensor is shifted slightly to get a composite 40MP image, which is highly detailed. The resolutions on both the electronic view-finder (EVF) as well as the touchscreen LCD. The E-M5 Mark II has a 3in, 1,037k-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD and a 2,360k-dot EVF.
On the video front, the E-M5 Mark II can shoot at 1080p at 24,25,30,50 and 60 fps. The E-M5 Mark II can also shoot at 10fps in the continuous burst mode as opposed to 8fps with the E-M5.
It also features the 5-axis image stabilisation, Wi-fi connectivity, 3-inch fully-articulated touchscreen LCD and so on. The image stabilisation comes with 5 stops which is one more than that seen on the E-M5. The ISO range goes upto ISO 25,600.
Speaking at the launch, Marc Radatt, general manager of Olympus Corporation APAC region said, “India is a very important and fast growing market for us and by next year, we expect to have a 10-15% market share in this mushrooming segment.”
