Blackberry Passport Allegedly Running Android Surfaces

The Blackberry. A Time honored device among the smartphone crowd which has been around for quite some time. Blackberry may not be the behemoth they once were but they are all but gone. Rumors of an Android-powered Blackberry even have some thinking that Blackberry may be able to somewhat restore itself to its former glory, or come close to it.
That would all depend on whether or not Blackberry is actually going to release a device powered by the Android operating system. Currently, there is nothing more than image leaks and speculation about Blackberry’s plans for Android. Short of the recently launched Android Secured Hubwhich is simply a site dedicated to providing individuals with an aggregated collective of the top news about Android devices secured by Blackberry software, there is little to go on but mere suggestions.
Recent images have surfaced however which may point to the fact that Blackberry may have considered the idea of a device running Android, as this silver Blackberry Passport clearly displays the Android OS running on it, or appears to. Now, whether or not this is a Passport which was loaded with Android by Blackberry legitimately or someone’s project with the OS hacked together and thrown on is unclear. It also can’t be ruled out that these images have been made to look like Android was running on the device when it actually isn’t. They certainly look convincing but there is no way to confirm that the device is indeed running Android.
Having said this, there is a video showing things in action that also has to be considered as it appears to show it running Android Lollipop and being used to flip through the recents menu and a couple of homescreen pages. The original source states the images and video came from an anonymous source of their own, so that’s all there really is to go on at this point. Should Blackberry decide to produce an Android device it would seem that the software runs just fine on their hardware, at least, according to the video it appears to run smoothly. This would be the latest set of leaks and rumors to join earlier speculation on an Android Blackberry, with previous image leaks suggesting a device with a slide up keyboard under the display. There’s also been rumors thatmultiple Blackberry devices running Android would be launched sometime this year.
