Earlier this week, search giant and Android owner Google finally opened up about their upcoming version of the mobile operating system, officially announcing the name of the tasty treat which will be representing the next upcoming version of
Android. For those who may be new to Android or were simply just unaware, each version of the operating system dating all the way back to the very first version for consumers has been themed with a tasty treat i.e. cupcake, donut, eclair, etc. Now Google is finally up to 6.0 and the official name will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Along with the announcement about the new version name Google also released the final build of the developer preview of Android M which puts users at the third build.
Developers or general tinkerers have been able to download and flash the preview build since the day of the announcement, with Google stating they’d be sending out over-the-air updates for it to supported devices soon after. It hasn’t been more than a couple of days and now it seems Google has silently put up a new build of the developer preview 3 labeled as build number MPA44I which has moved up from MPA44G available for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and the Nexus Player. At the moment there are no clear descriptions of what the differences may be for this version of the developer preview 3 build from the first one, but there must have been something Google noticed that warranted throwing out a new build for users.
Just like with the last build Google will end up sending out the OTA downloads to users, so those who wish to move to this new build can either wait for those to show up on their device on their own time, or they can download and flash the new build. If you’re unfamiliar with flashing software to your device, you’re likely better off waiting for the OTA to come through, however we have a helpful guide located here to help you through the process if you wish. On that note, it’s worth mentioning for anyone who may not already know that these developer previews are not final consumer-ready builds, so if you can’t live with some bugs or inconsistencies you shouldn’t flash this software.
