Google Maps for Android will now allows user to check gas prices

Google for Android has now introduced a new update for Google Maps, which will bring up fuel prices to the maps as well as the ability to add detours to the route. The update will also bring in the ability to find the cheapest fuel along your route. As of now, Google has not made any announcement for an iOS update.

According to a blogpost by Google Maps Product Manager, Aditya Dhanrajani, “When you’re driving in navigation mode and you get that call from your spouse to pick up some more milk on your drive home or if you’re on a road trip and want to find a great restaurant option along your route, simply tap the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the screen.”

With the new update, one will find a drop-down menu with helpful options, like gas stations, grocery stores, or restaurants. Users can also add a detour to their favourite coffee shop by tapping the search icon or by using voice commands. Dhanrajani added, “Whether you’re low on fuel, forgot that bottle of wine for the dinner party, or just really need a coffee to get through your next appointment, Google Maps is here to help make stressful times easier.”
The feature is coming first to Google Maps for Android, and will arrive ‘over the next few weeks.’
