iOS 9 adoption rate is ‘fastest ever’ with 50 percent devices upgraded, says Apple

Apple today announced that the newly unveiled iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available on Friday, September 25 at Apple’s retail stores. Both models will also be
available on the same day from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, additional carriers and select Apple authorised re-sellers. These models will be available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK and the US.
Beginning 26 September, customers will be able to visit Apple.com to reserve their iPhone for pick-up at their local Apple Store, based on availability. Most Apple stores will also have iPhone available for walk-in customers each day.
Apple also announced that the newly launched iOS 9 had the fastest iOS adoption ever, with more than 50 percent of devices already using it. Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said in a press release that, “iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history.” He added, “Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive, we can’t wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers’ hands starting this Friday.”
Reportedly, the new iOS 9 was installed on 12 percent of devices in the first 24 hours of release, which was comparatively slower than iOS 8. One of the best features about the new OS is that, the update requires 1.3GB of free space, which is less than a third of iOS 8’s requirement of 4.58GB. Users will not have to worry about emptying up that much space from their devices to update to the new OS.
iOS 9, available as a free update for device generations starting with the Phone 4S and the iPad 2, is said to be all about stability, fewer bugs and battery problems. Unfortunately, a few Apple users have encountered a few issues while upgrading to iOS 9 as well.
