The day has finally arrived when Apple’s anticipated new OS, the iOS 9, will officially release. The new OS will be a free download for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models that can run iOS 8. iOS 9 will be available for download starting today at 10:30PM in India.
According to Apple, iOS 9 will be made available as a free software update for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini and iPod touch fifth-generation. Some features may not be available across all regions or languages.
A tweet below by Apple’s Support page offers time details as to when the new OS will release in other parts of the world.
In addition, the new OS is said to be a much smaller update compared to the previous iterations. Compared to iOS 8, which offered the update at 4.58 GB, the new and improved iOS 9 will only be 1.3 GB. Thankfully, users will not need as much free space as before to update their devices. Also, users will get a notification when it is time to update their device.
