Live channels for Android TV could be seen as Google’s attempt to expand the Android TV market. As pointed out by The Verge, one of the key challenges for the Google application would be finding enough content and growing its app ecosystem. Supporting live TV won’t solve that problem, but it checks an important box, even if Google’s first version of the app is limited to the bare essentials.
